Paving Tomorrow recognizes the impact of social justice and human rights issues on our lives and futures. We stand firmly against colonialism, imperialism, and racism, which continue to affect our generation, and we champion the liberation of all marginalized communities, including LGBTQ+, women, youth, and racial minorities. Additionally, we advocate for the demilitarization of our nation, the dismantling of the prison industrial complex and school-to-prison pipeline, and for the reallocation of police funds to mental health services – all crucial steps towards ensuring a more fair and equitable future.
As young people, we are deeply affected by the lack of economic and labor protections afforded to workers in this country. Paving Tomorrow stands against corporate exploitation, advocates for fair treatment and rights for workers, and believes in securing a living wage that allows young people to thrive and contribute meaningfully to society. We support policies that will accomplish those goals, including a wealth tax, progressive taxation to ensure that economic benefits are shared equitably, and creating a more just and sustainable economic system. Paving Tomorrow also supports reducing the cost of education and relieving the burden of student debt.
For young people, access to comprehensive healthcare is essential for a healthy and fulfilling life. Paving Tomorrow supports initiatives like Medicare for All, ensuring that every person has access to quality healthcare regardless of their economic status. We advocate for reproductive rights, including access to abortion, IVF, contraceptives, and gender-affirming care, as we recognize their importance to young people’s autonomy and well-being. Additionally, we promote policies to decriminalize drugs and legalize marijuana, prioritizing harm reduction and public health in our communities.
The climate crisis is an issue that uniquely impacts youth. Paving Tomorrow passionately supports initiatives like the Green New Deal, which aims to address the dual challenges of climate change and economic inequality. We promote sustainable practices and advocate for robust public transportation systems and walkable cities to reduce carbon footprints and enhance urban livability.
We believe in the power of democracy and the collective voice of young people. We advocate for electoral reforms such as campaign finance reforms and term limits to ensure fair and transparent elections. We support initiatives like Vote16 at the local level, recognizing the importance of engaging young voters early in the civic process and the right to participate in the local decisions that affect our everyday lives. Additionally, we prioritize enhancing civic access, education, and comprehension to foster a more inclusive and informed democracy.
